Lifestyle

Welcome to the latest addition to 'the loft'; the Missions page. We promise to bring you the latest news on missionary activities across Africa; reports on recent outreaches, life changing testimonies, stories of missionaries living amongst the unreached, photos, video clips and upcoming opportunities for you to participate in.

Bulembu Bulletin - Where did it all Start?
A praise and worship session after a Mote outreach to Botswana was the place where the wheels were set in motion for what we
experienced here in Swaziland.

According to Teodor van der Spuy, the previous chairman of Tuks Missions, he simply experienced a need to send a thousand people on a mission at that moment. He was looking for something sustainable, and his heart was at peace with the radical idea.

A scripture that would support his vision was all he needed as conformation, and at that moment, none came to him. It was the following Sunday that Dick Easmen mentioned Isaiah 60:20: “A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one, a strong nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.”

Bulembu Bulletin - Shout to the North
On Monday night, Theodor van der Spuy, one of the Swazi 1000 facilitators, briefly shared a vision that was born in a Tuks Missions Week prayer meeting.

He said that, at this specific prayer meeting, he felt like the Lord was calling together the masses to go North, into Africa, back to Jerusalem.

He also shared a scripture that confirmed this vision, from Isaiah 43:6 “I will say to the North, ‘Give them up!’ And to the South, ‘Do not keep them back!’ Bring my sons from afar, and my daughters from the ends of the earth.”

Theodor said that he felt like this call into the North of Africa was bigger than one church, one denomination, or one organization.

Eight Days, Four Countries, Four Friends...

What a privilege it was to have spent the days together with three great friends as we travelled for eight days through Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia and Botswana.

Our journey started on Friday afternoon, 26 September when we made our way to the border of Zimbabwe. The motivation for this experience came when were contacted by a pastors friend in Zimbabwe requesting help as food and basic commodities are just no more available in the shops of Harare. We are grateful for all the donations that came our way as we prepared for our journey north. Our original plans were to stay in Harare for a few days, but two days before departure we were informed of a Cholera outbreak in the southern part of the city and decided against the stay over. Instead we met with Chris on arrival, travelled to his home, handed over the supplies and continued our travels to Kariba Lake.
